First Aid Kit Tips

A first aid kit will help protect your family and provide the relief they need when something goes wrong. Keep a well-stocked first aid kit at home, at the cottage and when you’re on the go to help ensure you’re always prepared for the unexpected.

Basic first aid items to include in a First Aid Kit:

  • Antihistamine (e.g. BENADRYL® Antihistamine) — for unexpected allergic reactions
  • Skin relief — for insect bits, hives, rashes and sunburns
  • Adhesive bandages (e.g. BAND-AID® Brand adhesive bandages)— to cover cuts and scrapes
  • Antibacterial cream or ointment (e.g. POLYSPORIN® Ointment)— to protect and heal a wound from infection
  • Gauze pads, skin tape, rolled bandages – to cover and protect wounds
  • Hydrogen peroxide — to clean dirty wounds and protect from infection
  • Pain reliever (e.g. TYLENOL® acetaminophen)— ask your pharmacist for advice on what to buy, especially if you have children

Protect your entire family with an antihistamine

Relief from unexpected allergic reactions* may require different dosages and formats to ensure fast and effective relief of symptoms. Include a combination of these products in your first aid kit to ensure all your family members are protected:

*Seek medical attention immediately if you are experiencing a life-threatening allergic reaction as BENADRYL® is not indicated for such use.
